Pull Zones

Pull Zones deliver any HTTP/S origin or a Storage Zone through CDN.gd’s edge with predictable controls for caching, performance, and security. Start here for the product overview, then dive into the feature pages listed below.

Quick start

  1. Name the zone (4–63 lowercase characters, numbers, and hyphens). We append .cdn.gd.
  2. Choose the origin type:
    • Origin URL for an external backend.
    • Storage Zone to serve objects directly from CDN.gd storage.
  3. Pick the routing tier:
    • standard for most apps.
    • volume when you expect sustained high traffic.
  4. Save and test the issued name.cdn.gd hostname; add custom hostnames after DNS points to us.

Feature map

Why use Pull Zones

  • Pair any origin (or our Storage Zones) with managed TLS and hostname validation.
  • Control cache behaviour with sensible presets and instant bypass options.
  • Ship fast defaults: HTTP/2 + HTTP/3, Brotli/gzip compression, and optional asset optimization.
  • Add protection with IP rules, WAF-style toggles, TLS headers, and AWS-style request signing.
  • Keep visibility with per-zone analytics and logs for traffic, cache, and status codes.

Pairing with Storage Zones

  • For static assets, point the Pull Zone at a Storage Zone to remove long-haul origin trips and improve cache hit rates.
  • Create the Storage Zone inline during origin selection or attach an existing one later from the Origin tab.
